Welcome to the Summerside Skating Club!!

Summerside Skating Club is a member of Skate Canada. We follow their vision & values to "Inspire all Canadians to Embrace the Joy of Skating. Skating instils a love of physical activity that contributes to the health and happiness of all who participate. Pursuing learning and reaching goals in the company of others creates a sense of community and a willingness to give back to one’s larger community." The Club is managed by a Board of Directors. Day to day programs and activities are operated by the Club Professionals who are National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) trained and/or certified as well as certification for specific levels within Skate Canada . Board members have volunteered to take on the responsibilities of running the Club so our children can learn and enjoy skating, whether their goal is recreational skating, figure skating, hockey, ringette, or becoming a competitive/test stream skater. Skating is one of the most popular sports in the world today, come join us!
Thank you to the City of Summerside for being a funding partner to the Summerside Figure Skating Club

CanSkate Learn to Skate

New Skaters to our Club must register for Try CanSkate. CanSkate is Skate Canada’s official “Learn to Skate” program.  It is highly regarded by other ice sport organizations as the favoured curriculum to develop the skills needed to participate in their sports. It is also an excellent program to teach Canadians to skate for the joy of skating at any age or ability.

Star Skate

StarSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance,  skills, free skate and artistic skating. Unique in Canada, this program teaches figure skating skills in a group and/or private lesson format in a progressive and sequential manner and includes specifically designed awards and incentives. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada Assessments through a nationally standardized assessment system.

Adult Skate

Adult Skate is for all levels and all adult ages. It will encompass an Adult Learn to Skate Program for non skaters or beginners and for those with skating experience as well. Join us to learn to skate or brush up on your skating skills, socialize and exercise; all of which will take place in a fun, no pressure environment.  Group lessons are included.

Synchronized Skating

Synchronized skating, or “synchro” is a specialized discipline of skating involving groups of eight or more skaters performing various group formations and maneuvers. The objective is for the team to perform as one unit executing circles, blocks, lines, wheels and intersections in unison to the music, while demonstrating quality edges, power and flow. Synchronized Skating categories  accommodate skaters at any age and skill level.
